Hinduismus/Ayurveda

In der hinduistischen Philosophie und im Ayurveda bezeichnet Akasha ('Γ„ther') neben Prithvi ('Erde'), Vayu ('Luft'), Agni ('Feuer') und Jalam ('Wasser') eines der fΓΌnf Elemente (vgl. Vaisheshika).

Buddhismus

In den Kommentaren des Buddhismus findet sich ākāsa als Bezeichnung fΓΌr zwei Arten des Raumes: den durch die KΓΆrperlichkeit β€žbegrenzten Raumβ€œ (ākāsa-dhātu) und den β€žunbegrenzten Raumβ€œ (ajatākāsa), den Weltraum.cite-ref-1[1]cite-ref-2[2] In vielen Sutras wird der der KΓΆrperlichkeit angehΓΆrende β€žbegrenzte Raumβ€œ in der Gruppe der sechs ΓΆstlichen Elemente (festes, flΓΌssiges, erhitzendes, luftiges Element, Raumelement, Bewusstseinselement) aufgezΓ€hlt, wΓ€hrend der β€žunbegrenzte Raumβ€œ, genau wie die Zeit, keine Wirklichkeit besitzt.
